SERVED FRESH: Mac Miller - "Hand Me Downs"

January 16, 2020

In September of 2018, the world lost a prominant figure in the music industry in Pennsylvania-born Mac Miller.

Just a month prior, Mac's fifth studio album Swimming had just been released.

The album's introspective nature garnered raving acclaim from fans and critics alike, and it was already becoming a viral smash.

A month later, Mac Miller's sudden passing caused a shockwave around the world -- all of social media had his name trending his name in disbelief.

Just over a week before his passing, Mac's last Instagram post was a link to a newly published New York Mag / Vulture article headlined "The Perfectionist: Mac Miller is finally making the music he's always wanted to make."

The next post was a week ago, today; a letter from his family, apologetically announcing the posthumous release of Swimming's follow-up Circles.

Today -- just days before what would have been Mac Miller's 28th birthday -- the album was released with visual aids for every song, but one song in-particular received an in-studio behind-the-scenes video that seemingly takes place in the album's creation.

Watch Mac Miller get hands-on in some of his final studio sessions in the video for "Hand Me Downs" below.

Circles. January 17.
