Chrissy Teigen returns to Twitter: ‘It feels terrible to silence yourself’

April 16, 2021

Chrissy Teigen has returned to Twitter.

On Friday, the model, cookbook author and wife of John Legend posted from her reactivated account after leaving the social media platform in late March.

“Turns out it feels TERRIBLE to silence yourself and also no longer enjoy belly chuckles randomly throughout the day and also lose like 2000 friends at once lol,” Teigen, 35, wrote.

“I choose to take the bad with the good!!” she added in a follow-up tweet.

Teigen also responded to a fan who asked if she had any “fun anecdotes” since her departure from the platform.

“I’ve spent weeks just saying tweets to shampoo bottles,” Teigen joked.

On March 24, Teigen deleted her account after explaining that the platform no longer served her "positively."

"For over 10 years, you guys have been my world. I honestly owe so much to this world we have created here. I truly consider so many of you my actual friends," she said in a post.

"But it’s time for me to say goodbye. This no longer serves me as positively as it serves me negatively, and I think that’s the right time to call something," Teigen continued.

Teigen went on to elaborate on her decision, saying that years of scrutiny on the platform left her "deeply bruised."

"I encourage you to know and never forget that your words matter. No matter what you see, what that person portrays, or your intention. For years I have taken so many small, 2-follower count punches that at this point, I am honestly deeply bruised," she wrote.

Teigen is widely known for her outspoken, humorous and personal use of the platform.
