Chipotle giving away free burritos to healthcare workers

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Chipotle is showing its appreciation for the country's healthcare heroes with some free grub.

The fast casual chain is giving away 250,000 burritos to healthcare workers as a thank you for their work over the past year.

Medical professionals can sign up to receive the freebie starting 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET) on Thursday, April 29th.

The company is also inviting fans to get involved by leaving a message of appreciation and tagging a healthcare hero on Chipotle's Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. The message which will then be displayed on a new virtual "wall of gratitude" on Chipotle's website.

"Given the events of the past year, we are once again bringing our fans together to show appreciation for the heroic efforts of the healthcare community," said Chris Brandt, Chief Marketing Officer.

Chipotle is also launching a program to support healthcare workers where it will match 10% of special e-gift card purchases and donate the funds to the American Nurses Foundation.
